Website Update

This is going to be a short post today. I have made some updates to my website. The individual pages have had a massive update and I created galleries instead of single pictures to make it easier to read and in some cases I have re-formated the text and made it shorter or longer and some of the individual pages like the WELEDA page now shows the blog posts related to the page. It is supposed to give a better overview. Let me know what you think about those updates and if it improves my blog website. At this point I also want to thank all of you for reading and commenting my blog. Please if you like it spread the word. Mark

Uncle Waiting List

For the last 3 months I have been on the waiting list at Uncle in Wembley for a 3 Bedroom 2 Bathroom Apartment. Up until today I am still waiting and I am really getting a bit upset but I can understand that no one is moving out and that Uncle can’t force people out if they extend their contract. Now I just have to keep waiting. Maybe in their new development that is going to be finished soon I can get something. My point is that I want an apartment that is on a higher floor up so speaking like 12 to 25th floor. I don’t want to be on a lower floor but also don’t want to be underneath the root terrace. So kind of in the middle up. All uncle had available lately was 3rd and 6th floor. So it just means I have to stay in Whitley Bay longer until something I want becomes available. I was hoping to move back to London in the summer…

Karl König Founder of Camphill

Karl König 1902-1966: Biography Dr Karl König (1902-66) was an Austrian physician, author and lecturer. In 1938, König fled the Nazi invasion of Austria and settled near Aberdeen, Scotland. It was here that he founded what became the Camphill movement in 1940. Based on the educational ideas of Rudolf Steiner, this network of special education schools for children and villages for adults with developmental needs are now established throughout Britain, Europe, North and South America, and southern Africa. He was also working very closely with Dr Ita Wegmann, the founder of the Anthroposophical Medical and cosmetic company WELEDA.  Karl König’s Early Life Karl König was born on September 25th 1902 in Vienna, Austria, the only son of a Jewish family who owned a shoeshop. He studied zoology, biology and medicine at the University of Vienna, graduating in 1927. During König’s studies on embryology, he encountered the works of Rudolf Steiner through Goethe’s scientific writings. König immediately identified with Steiner and was soon acquainted with a number of his followers, including Ita Wegman. Upon graduation, König was offered several high-profile positions in Vienna but instead accepted an invitation from Ita Wegman to join her clinic in Arlesheim, Switzerland. König’s time at the Clinic would shape the Camphill movement. It was here that he met his wife and co-founder, Tilla Maasberg, and it was here that he first witnessed the Advent Garden. During this festival, where children with learning disabilities circle a spiral of moss, lighting a candle from a large central beacon, he promised to ‘dedicate my life to the care and education of these children’. Following his time at Arlesheim, König moved to Germany and was involved in founding the Pilgramshain Institute – one of the early curative educational centres based on anthroposophy. However, due to political pressure König was forced to leave Germany in 1936. He returned to Vienna where he ran a successful medical practice and led anthroposophical study groups until 1938. Karl König and the Camphill Movement Fleeing Austria after Nazi annexation in 1938, König was part of a small group of doctors, teachers and artists to be granted political asylum in the United Kingdom during 1939. König moved to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where this group founded a home for children with learning disabilities that became the beginning of the Camphill movement. After the Second World War, more schools were founded as well as curative education villages for adults with disabilities, based on the ideal of working together as a community. In the following decades, König’s Aberdeenshire community grew and expanded into Britain, Europe and America, becoming the Camphill movement we recognise today. During this period, König worked tirelessly to help children and adults with special needs through publications, talks and seminars – and by founding communities the world over. Karl König returned to Germany in 1964, founding another community near Überlingen. He died there in 1966. Today, the Camphill movement he established includes more than 100 communities in over 20 different countries.

Back to normal

This website, my blog is back to normal. It has been running on my backup server for a week as the main server has been out of order. I’ve now finished re-installing the operating system Debian on the server Ingrid and setup a new server control panel called Keyhelp Pro. It is running much more secure than the previous Ubuntu with cPanel. I am really sorry for the issues that were caused through the server outage. Over the next weeks all the sites are going to be moving back to Ingrid and the backup server New York will be doing what t’s supposed to do backups.

Baking

Today I felt like I wanted something my grandma typically made around this time of the year. It’s called apricot cake, a typical viennese desert or coffee cake. You need: How to: Combine butter and powdered sugar and beat until soft and smooth. Add the eggs one by one and keep combining until all eggs are in the bowl and mixed. Now add the flour bit by bit and keep combining until you have a smooth dough. Using a baking tray put a baking paper on the tray and put the dough evenly on the baking tray. Now add the apricots. Pre-Heat the oven to 160C and bake for 20 to 35 minutes depending on your oven. When you take it out, let it cool down and put powdered sugar on top. You can also replace Apricots by Strawberries, Peaches, Cherries and other fresh fruit. The only fruits that don’t work are apples, pears, oranges…

Outage

Hi all! I am really sorry for any inconvenience some of you had over the past week. There has been an outage on my server and some pretty hefty issues. My server 1 Ingrid had a encountered a virus infection and the control panel I used on this server Ingrid was cPanel and that had a malfunction too. So the whole Ubuntu system has been affected and the server went down. Unfortunately some of the content of this Blog pammesberger.co.uk had gone missing and the layout has reverted back to the 2023 layout. I really apologise for this. I will be working hard to get the site back to what it had been. Many of the blog articles are restored. The BROOLED website is back online too. This site has not been affected so much as the rest of the domains. All content is there and all products and the whole layout is there too. I have tested the website today and the functionality is still working as it should be. Thank goodness. The Website Thermomix-Consultant.com is fully offline as the database had been lost during the outage and I will need to get the site done new. Unfortunately it will take some time to get this site back up. Pridemug.uk is still being investigated. At the moment it looks like the site design is still there and the online designer where you can design and upload your designs to get them printed is working too. The site should be back shortly. MWP-Design.co.uk has been fallen ill to the virus and the whole site design and content seems to have been lost. It will need to be fully recreated and it can take some time until the website is back online. I am very sorry for this. At this time all sites working or not have been migrated to my 2 server New York. The server is a bit small to host all the sites but it is secure and uses Debian OS with Keyhelp as it’s control panel. Once the server Ingrid has been restored fully it will be hosting Debian operating System (OS) and Keyhelp as Control Panel. Working websites will be one by one migrated back to Ingrid once they are working and New York will server it’s original purpose again as trial and backup server. Again, I am very sorry for this to have happened but it was beyond my control.

Biodynamic Principlesand Practices

Biodynamic Principles A foundation of the Biodynamic method of farming is a Goethean observation of nature and its application to a farming system. This encourages a view of nature as an interconnected whole, a totality, an organism endowed with archetypal rhythm. Biodynamic farming involves managing a farm utilizing the principles of a living organism. A concise model of a living organism ideal would be a wilderness forest. In such a system there is a high degree of self-sufficiency in all realms of biological survival.  Fertility and feed arise out of the recycling of the organic material the system generates.  Avoidance of pest species is based on biological vigor and its intrinsic biological and genetic diversity. Water is efficiently cycled through the system.  While agriculture takes nature to a state that is one step removed from wilderness, the wisdom of the farmer that guides its course can reflect these ancient principles of sustainability.  The view of the farm organism extends beyond the fence line and includes the tangible and intangible forces that work through it.  Examples include the climate, inherent wildlife of the earth (above and below the ground), the light and warmth from the sun and the more distant astronomical influences.  Biodynamic agriculture attempts to harmonize all of these factors within a holistic, living farm system.  The food that results is very pure and true to its essence and provides deeply penetrating nutrition that is essential to an increasingly unhealthy human population.  Biodynamic Practices In day-to-day practice the goal is to create a farm system that is minimally dependant on imported materials, and instead meets its needs from the living dynamics of the farm itself.  It is the biodiversity of the farm, organized so that the waste of one part of the farm becomes the energy for another, that results in an increase in the farm’s capacity for self-renewal and ultimately makes the farm sustainable. This requires that, as much as possible, a farm be regenerative rather than degenerative.  Consider carefully materials that are imported onto the modern day organic farm.  Where do they come from?  Often they can be tracked back to a natural resource provided by the earth. Examples include petroleum to move materials around, ancient mineral deposits, by-products of unsustainable agriculture-related industry, and the life of the seas and waterways.  An important social value of Biodynamic farming is that it does not depend on the mining of the earth’s natural resource base but instead emphasizes contributing to it.
